The augmented reality arena just became a bit hotter with Urbanspoon’s implementation of augmented reality into the existing feature set. You can now browse or search for a good restaurant or, with a simple shake your iPhone will reveal a random local restaurant. Building upon the results the new “Scope” feature uses Google Maps to show your position in blue and the local restaurants in red pins.
AR brings the new BMW Z4 to life

This is probably one of the sleekest uses of Augmented reality I have seen, fitting in perfectly with the above-the-line campaign. Users can turn their desk (or in fact anywhere) into a canvas for the BMW Z4 to drive around controlled by the user’s keyboard – cool.
Volkswagen Masters the Viral Video

Great viral videos are hard to come by, but Volkswagen (or rather ad agency DDB Stockholm) appears to have hit the bullseye. Their new campaign “The Fun Theory” is a series of experiments, captured on video, to find out if making the world more fun can improve people’s behavior. The top video, Piano Stairs, has achieved over 1 million views on YouTube – I can’t count how many times friends have shared it this week.

Editing is reversible and non-destructive, with the output saving to your iPhone Photos collection and optionally to your online account.

Now this is useful, jQTouch is an interesting jQuery plug-in for mobile web development, optimized for the iPhone and iPod Touch. Although will it offer the flexibility and adaptability that we’ve become all too familiar with when using jQuery for development on the PC platform. I hope so, JQuery is a fantastic framework that would only benefit from being able to deploy to multiple platforms.

Fast Google Indexing – 4 minutes
Posted by simon@digital-campaign.com | Filed under Natural Search, SEO
Really interesting to see just how quick Google picks up new content. I’ve just reinstated my blog after having a holding page in place for the best part of ten months; first post was a simple reflection of how a company (SRB Power Ltd) I founded with a friend developed a relationship with Codemaster and subsequently featured in a number of racing games. The post was published at 12:14pm to my WordPress blog, at 12:40 I thought it would be good idea to source some extra content and screen grabs for the post, so straight of to Google for a quick search using the following search string “codemasters grid srbpower” returned the following results:

Thats right, Google indexed the first post within 4 minutes of being published!
You know you’ve made it…

You know that you’ve made it as a company within the UK tuning market when Codemasters and Electronic Arts ask your company, brand, products and demo cars to feature in games such as GRID and Need for Speed:SHIFT!, allowing users to select you as a sponsor and modify their car. While working with my business partner at SRB Power Ltd we were fortunate enough to develop a relationship with Codemasters and Electronic Arts that made this a happen and provide another fantastic marketing opportunity to gain further brand awareness and cement our reputation with existing loyal customers.
